释义	孤儿记章回小说。近代平云著。十四章。叙苍木山黯淡村孤儿阿番，父母去世后，叔父代管家业，命其不停劳作。一日见其采薪甚少，将其责打赶出。遂穴居野处。后遇一补鞋老人，从之学艺，成为靴工。乃辞别老人，独出谋生。因病后体弱不能打工，替人牧羊。却失羊被逐，沦为乞丐。夜宿破屋遇群盗聚会，被胁迫入伙，从此不愁衣食。后被警方抓获，判刑入狱。受狱吏虐待，被迫将其杀死。经审讯，被判死刑。阿番为生活所迫而犯罪，具有广泛代表性，作者颇表同情。书中深刻反映了晚清社会的某些方面，如狱吏凶残，农村凋敝，人情冷漠等。有光绪三十二年（1906）上海小说林社印行本。前有《绪言》、《凡例》、《缘起》，后有《识语》、《附录》。后经阿英收入《晚清文学丛钞·小说四卷》，1961年由中华书局印行。
