释义	天临路本潭州路，元天历二年（1329）“以潜邸所幸”改名。治长沙、善化二县（今长沙市）。为湖南道宣慰司和岭北湖南道肃政廉访司驻地。属湖广行省。辖境相当今湖南衡山县以北的湘江流域和安化县以东的资水流域（沅江市除外）。至正二十四年（1364）朱元璋改为潭州府。
